Singled out by The Times in 2012 as a ‘Rising Star of Classical Music’, mezzo-soprano Kathryn Rudge is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after voices of her generation. A BBC Young Generation Artist and nominee in last year’s RPS Awards, she is joined by pianist James Baillieu for an enchanting programme that traces the Lied from its origins in Schubert’s masterful miniatures, through Tosti’s irresistible Italian expressivity, to the quiet understatement of Britten’s elegant British folksong settings.
