The Rotary Clubs of Liverpool, Liverpool City, Liverpool Exchange, Liverpool West Derby and South Sefton united for a Gala Concert in honour of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on Friday 25th May at Liverpool’s St George’s Hall and it was great to be invited to take part in the evening!
There are around 1.2 million Rotary International members worldwide in over 60 countries and around 2,000 clubs in Great Britain and Ireland in which local men and women come together to uphold the principles of Rotary to serve people using their personal skills and talents. The projects are planned to benefit communities close to home, especially where there is need and also throughout the world.
Rotary Clubs across the world have raised over $600million towards the fight to eradicate polio. Locally Rotary has helped enable local children to take part in the Disabled Games at Chester for the last four years, raised funds for Sefton Women’s and Children’s Aid (SWACA) and assisted Action for Children in the their work, Liverpool City Sea Cadets.
The concert at St George’s Hall raised money towards the work of the Rotary and was also in honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Organised by Sylvia Lewis and members of several Liverpool area Rotary Clubs, the concert was compered by BBC Radio Merseyside’s Maureen Walsh and Roger Lyon. It was a great night of celebration, patriotic music and lots of flag waving!
Wishing everyone a great time celebrating the Diamond Jubilee!
