“Fifteen talented singers were selected to go through to the semi-finals of the BBC Radio 2 Kiri Prize, a nationwide search with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa to find an opera star of the future. This second semi-final programme, introduced by Penny Smith, sees soprano Lucy Hall, mezzo-soprano Kathryn Rudge and tenor Alexander Grove singing for a place in the final.
This initiative was launched in January 2010. Following regional auditions, 40 singers were invited to attend masterclasses in London with judges Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Anne Howells and Robin Stapleton. Five singers will go through to the final to be broadcast on Radio 2 on Friday 3 September.
