RLPO 175th Concert Liverpool Philharmonic Hall

RLPO 175th Concert Liverpool Philharmonic Hall

On 12th and 14th March 2015 I performed in two very special concerts with Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir as they celebrated their 175th Anniversary. The sell-out concerts marked the occasion of the first concert the Liverpool Philharmonic Society organised on 12th March 1840.  The programme for the concert included Mendelssohn Die erste Walpurgisnacht and Beethoven's Ninth Symphony conducted by Vasily Petrenko.

Classic FM relocated to London to broadcast live from Liverpool for the first concert and I spoke with Jane Jones before the concert began. Listen to ‘Singer Kathryn Rudge - on singing with the RLPO’

Liverpool Philharmonic is one of the world’s oldest concert societies, with the UK’s oldest continuing professional symphony orchestra in the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (RLPO). Through an award-winning partnership established in 2001, the RLPO is Classic FM’s Orchestra in the North West of England.

The atmosphere in the hall was incredible, it was a real privilege to be on the stage to hear and see it all... whilst pinching myself to think that all this incredible music making could be heard a few miles from my home!  Here's to another 175 years of Liverpool Philharmonic... and then some!!
