Sir Karl Jenkins National Tour

Sir Karl Jenkins National Tour

During November 2013 I performed  with Conductor Karl Jenkins’on his national tour (2nd -17th Nov 2013) organised by Raymond Gubbay.  It is always exciting to have the opportunity to perform in some new venues .  It was my first visit to St. David’s Hall in Cardiff (home to the annual Welsh Proms and BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition) and the Birmingham Symphony Hall – both beautiful venues .   We also travelled back “up north” to perform at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.

I first performed the Armed Man with Karl in Stoke-on-Trent  whilst still a student at the Royal Northern College of Music.   So it was fantastic to be able to join him again to explore and perform a broader range of his moving music.

We were joined for the concerts  by  the Manchester Concert Orchestra, Manchester Chorale, City of Birmingham Choir, Sinfonia Cymru, Cor  Caerdydd and Zands Duggan (Hand Drummer & Percussion)

We performed a new programme celebrating Sir Karl’s most popular works including The Armed Man, Palladio Passacaglia, Requiem, The Peacemakers and Stabat Mater.

--------

On Friday 9th May 2014 I sang at the Royal Albert Hall in London with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Choral Society under the baton of Karl Jenkins for his 70th Birthday Concert.

The concert was a great way to celebrate Karl Jenkins' much loved compositions from his 50 years in the music profession. The programme included pieces from his ‘Stabat Mater’, ‘The Peacemakers’, ‘Euphonium Concerto’, ‘Requiem’, ‘The Armed Man’ and ‘The Adiemus Collection’.  I sang the Lament and Ave verum from Stabat Mater and Pie Jesu from Requiem.

There were also performances from contralto Belinda Sykes, David Childs on the Euphonium, Uilleann Pipe player Robert White and amazing hand percussion from Zands Duggan! Cerys Matthews took to the stage to invite the packed Hall to join in singing 'Happy Birthday' for a lovely finale to the evening!

Following this I am looking forward to joining Karl Jenkins on his UK tour and will be singing at concerts to be held at the Symphony Hall, Birmingham (1st November 2014), The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester (2nd November 2014), and a concert (The Armed Man & Euphonium Concerto) with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales in St David’s Hall Cardiff (30th November 2014).

Concert presented by Raymond Gubbay and Rainbow City Broadcasting
