Kathryn performs as a soloist for the The UNESCO Concert for Peace 2023 - Brucknerhaus, Linz, Austria - Sir Karl Jenkins 'One World'
“An event that sends such a clearly audible signal for peace and advocates dialogue, peace and reconciliation is a welcome ray of hope in our crisis-ridden times, that can give many people new hope and confidence.” Jürgen Meindl, Austrian Federal Ministry of Culture
Commissioned and presented by the World Orchestra for Peace and the World Choir for Peace
On 19 November 2023, a new chapter of music and broadcasting history will be written at the Brucknerhaus Linz. For his brilliant new choral work, Sir Karl Jenkins has brought together professional singers and players of the World Choir for Peace, World Orchestra for Peace, Hard Chor Linz and the Stay at Home Choir. Virtual performers from more than 40 countries will join over 400 artists performing live in a World Première under the baton of the Composer. Soloists on stage will be Ruby Hughes (Soprano), Kathryn Rudge (Mezzo-soprano) and Roderick Williams (Baritone).
The new work addresses a fractured world - populist governments, climate change, epidemics, disregard for human rights and war - while proclaiming a vision of a peaceful and egalitarian planet. Incorporating elements of different cultures and religions and drawing inspiration from texts such as the Bible, the Hindu Gayatri Mantra as well as in works by the English poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, the Lebanese-American author Khalil Gibran and librettist Carol Barratt.
