Kathryn will make her debut in the role of Dorabella for Garsington Opera as they present a new production of Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte. The production has a fine cast with soprano Andrea Soare as Fiordiligi, Robin Tritschler as Ferrando and Ashley Riches as Guglielmo, Neal Davies as Don Alfonso and Lesley Garrett as Despina.
The production is directed by John Fulljames (assistant director at the Royal Opera House) and conducted by Garsington’s artistic director Douglas Boyd with set and costumes by Dick Bird.
“A light-hearted wager spirals out of control when two young soldiers allow themselves to be drawn into the intrigues of their cynical friend who persuades them to put the love of their adored fiancées to the test. Playing with the girls’ emotions is a dangerous experiment in which nobody is left unchanged.
The third of Mozart’s collaborations with his greatest librettist, Lorenzo Da Ponte, Così fan tutte is a bitter-sweet comedy in which real people face real and painful predicaments. It drew from Mozart some of his most captivating music, revealing every nuance of character, every shade of humour, passion and humanity; dealing intimately with the ambiguities, perplexities and joys of life.
