MARCH 2011, LONDON
Kathryn recently participated in an annual competition between young singers about to enter the profession from the UK conservatoires, Glyndebourne and the Monteverdi Choir. The auditions were held at the Royal Academy of Music in London on Sunday 20th February 2011 and Kathryn was thrilled to be awarded the Joaninah Prize by the adjudicators.
The Joaninha Trust was originally set up by Joan Nixon and run by Sir Edward Nixon to help singers embarking on a professional singing career. The first Joaninah Prize was held in 1994 and invites one candidate to represent each of the music colleges, Montiverdi chorus and Glyndebourne. Kathryn was awarded the prize of £5,000.
