Live at St Wilfrids

On 1st February 2014 I performed a recital with pianist Daniel Browell as part of the “Live at St. Wilfrid’s” recital series.  The  organisers are celebrating their 23rd season of concerts which are planned on a monthly basis  - As well as encouraging young musicians they have played host to many internationally renowned artists.

St Wilfrid’s Church is in Grappenhall, a village in Warrington, Cheshire. The church is stunning and designated by English Heritage as a Grade 1 listed building.  The church has many really interesting features including the carving of a cat above the large west window on the outside of the church   By its grinning expression, it is thought that this may well be the origin of the Cheshire Cat of Alice in Wonderland fame!!

It was such a pleasure to sing in the beautiful setting of the church to a large audience. During the recital we performed a  programme of song repertoire including  Quilter, Tosti and Schubert Songs.

'Live at St Wilfrid's concerts take place throughout the year and further details can be found on their website.    Including a Royal Northern College of Music Opera Gala being held on Thursday 12th June 2014An evening of opera classics and songs from the shows, including solos, duets and ensemble pieces, performed by talented singers from the Royal Northern College of Music.  Also, on Thursday 18th September 2014 pianist Martin Roscoe performs a programme including Mendelssohn,  Schubert, Liszt and Beethoven.
