Kathryn will perform composer Michael Nyman’s Symphony No 11: Hillsborough Memorial  with the RLPO and the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth and Training Choirs, conducted by Josep Vicent at the city’s Liverpool Cathedral during the opening of the Liverpool Biennial on Saturday 5 July 2014.   Kathryn will have the honour of singing the names of the 96 supporters who lost their lives in the 1989 tragedy.

“The symphony is based on a work Nyman – well known for film scores such as The Piano and Gattaca – wrote in 1985 and subsequently used in The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover starring Helen Mirren, and is something he hopes will make ‘a small but significant contribution to the healing process still necessary for the families of lost fans.”

In addition to the live performance of the Symphony, a recording will be played in the cathedral at 3.06pm on the following dates:-   9th & 23rd July, 6th & 25th August, 3rd and 17th September 2014.
