Kathryn Rudge has delighted audiences at Opera North over the past few seasons in Giulio Cesare, La Clemenza di Tito and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She was named The Times ‘Rising Star of Classical Music’ in 2012, and is a YCAT Artist alumni. Most recently she joined the impressive list of artists to pass through BBC Radio 3’s New Generation Artists’ Scheme. As a recitalist she is a frequent guest at London’s Wigmore Hall, and joined Graham Johnson to close last season. Today she joins fellow Royal Northern College of Music graduate and Leeds Lieder favourite, Jonathan Fisher for a recital of English Song.

It doesn’t take long (five notes maybe) to hear why people are excited. Her mezzo-soprano voice already has tremendous reserves of power, impeccable intonation, the capacity for a gloriously sustained legato and, most interesting of all, a distinctive vocal quality. The timbre has white-hot intensity that extends undiminished through all of two octaves.’ The Times – Wigmore Hall Review.
